Yukari Higo

Yukari is a wayfaring screenwriter, born in Tokyo and now based in Glasgow. Her first short script "Shichigatsu (July)" was chosen as the UK national finalist of the 4th Nisi Masa European Script Contest in 2005. Her second script "Then a Summer Starts" was commissioned by Scottish Screen and UK Film Council as one of the Cineworks short films produced in 2007. "Then a Summer Starts" was nominated for the Club des Femmes Award at the 5th London Short Film Festival in 2008.

Yukari has lived in Tokyo, Hong Kong, London and Scotland. She draws ideas from the varied societies she has experienced and observed: from working and living in Shinjuku – the biggest entertainment & red-light district in Tokyo – to serving high-end travellers as a cabin attendant for an international airline. Based on her own experiences and stories she has collected, Yukari weaves fictional worlds with a truly cinematic vision.
